
MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — English Premier League scores and the EPL standings after the games that took place on Boxing Day, December 26, Thursday.
Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United all came from behind to score wins, while Crystal Palace secured a vital victory that lifted them out of the relegation zone.
Manchester United came from two goals down to beat Hull City on the road to stay in the hunt for a top four place in the league at the end of the season. Man United moved up one place to seventh with the win.
Arsenal, in the meantime, returned to the pole position in the EPL standings with a come from behind 3-1 victory over West Ham, with Theo Walcott scoring twice.
Manchester City also came from 1-0 down to beat Christmas leaders Liverpool 2-1 to go second behind Arsenal in the table standings. The Citizens, who kept the league’s leading scorer Luis Suarez from finding the net, are now 9-0 at home this season and are truly the leading contenders for the title.
With the defeat, Liverpool dropped from first to fourth, with Chelsea, who edged Swansea City 1-0 moving to third.
On form Everton suffered their second defeat of the season, going down 1-0 at home to Sunderland. Tim Howard was sent off early in the first for Everton, who stayed in fifth place.
In the bottom end, Crystal Palace moved out of the relegation zone with a late-late 1-0 victory over Aston Villa and Newcastle hammered nine-man Stoke 5-1 to stay sixth.
