(Sporting Alert) — Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid were among the winners on Match Day 3 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Celtic also registered their first victory of the tournament this season, while Napoli and Zenit picked up road wins as well.
At the Emirates Stadium, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski scored a late winner and last year’s beaten finalist Borussia Dortmund beat Arsenal 2-1 and go top of Group F with six points, the same as the EPL side who dropped to second.
In that same group Napoli condemned Marseille to their third successive defeat in the Champions League, following a 2-1 result in favour of the Serie A side on the road.
Fernando Torres grabbed a brace for Chelsea in their comfortable 3-0 win over Schalke in Group E at Veltins Arena.
Also finding the back of the net was Eden Hazard, as Jose Mourinho picked up his first win against German opponents in Germany.
One of Europe’s top strikers, Diego Costa scored twice and Atletico madrid battered Austria Wien 3-0 in Group G at Franz Horr Stadium.
Elsewhere, Celtic edged Ajax 2-1, and Zenit St Petersburg tagged FC Porto 2-1.
AC Milan and Barcelona ended 1-1 in a game that saw Kaka setting up fellow Brazilian Robinho for the opener for the Italian side.
Lionel Messi found the back of the net again for Barcelona as he equalized.
