NO. 25 BAYLOR 69, NO. 16 VANDERBILT 67
Taurean Prince netted a career-high 30 points to lead No. 25 Baylor to a 69-67 victory over No. 16 Vanderbilt in a college basketball game on Sunday.
Prince, who was 10-for-19 from the floor and connected on four of his seven 3-pointers, also had five assists and three steals for the Bears (6-1).
Lester Medford had 15 points, including the winning 3-pointer from the corner with 42 seconds left, while Rico Gathers added a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds for Baylor, which won five straight since losing to then-No. 25 Oregon last month.
Notably, the 13 boards collected by Gathers, who was posting his fourth double-double of the campaign on Sunday, helped the senior to a career tally 920 rebounds, which moves him past Brian Skinner’s school record of 915.
“Honestly, it’s not something that I had planned to do in my tenure here,” Gathers said. “I didn’t even know anything about the record, until a couple of days before the season.
“I played the course and it eventually happened. I’m just glad that it was in a big game like this one.”
Wade Baldwin had 19 points, four rebounds and four assists and Matthew Fisher-Davis finished with 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks for Vanderbilt (6-2) in the defeat.
