College Football Rankings For Week 8: Oct. 15

MIAMI, FL, Sporting Alert – Alabama remains stable at No. 1 in a well-shaken college football rankings for Week 8 on Sunday.

This week saw three newcomers to the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

The Crimson Tide (7-0) collected all 61 first-place votes from the media panel on Sunday for 1,525 points following the 41-9 rout of Arkansas in Week 7 on Saturday.

Alabama will next welcome Tennessee on Saturday.

Penn State was ideal in Week 7, but the Big Ten outfit advanced one place to No. 2, this after defending champion and last week’s second-ranked Clemson was stunned 27-24 on the road against Syracuse.

Georgia moved one slot up to No. 3 after beating Missouri 53-28 on Saturday, while TCU and Wisconsin both jumped into the Top 5 at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively after moving up two spots.

Ohio State is up three places to No. 6 after another dominating performance in Nebraska, while Clemson slipped five spots to No. 7 with Miami up three places to No. 8.

Big 12 clubs Oklahoma and Oklahoma State checked in at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.

Meanwhile, Washington dropped seven places to No. 12 after Arizona State upset them 13-7, while Washington State also dipped seven places to No. 15, following the 37-3 defeat to California.

USC, at No. 11, Notre Dame No. 13 and Virginia Tech No. 14, completed the Top 15.

NC State and South Florida checked in at No. 16, Michigan State improved to No. 18, while Michigan slipped to No. 19 and UCF at No. 20.

Auburn, which suffered a shocking defeat to LSU was the biggest droppers this week, moving down 11 places to No. 21 with Stanford coming in at No. 22.

The three newcomers in the college football rankings for Week 8 are West Virginia, LSU and Memphis at No. 23 through No. 25.

Dropping from rankings this week were San Diego State (19), Texas Tech (24) and Navy (25).
