UPDATED: College Football Week 14 Scores, Results: Dec. 5

TEXAS, Sporting Alert – College football scores and results from the Top 25 games in Week 14 on Saturday, December 5. Alabama wins SEC title, Michigan State takes Big Ten crown, Clemson Secures ACC title and Stanford takes Pac 12 championship.

NO. 2 ALABAMA 29, NO. 18 FLORIDA 15

ATLANTA — Derrick Henry ran for 189 yards and a scored, and the No. 2 Alabama cruised to a 29-15 victory over No. 18 Florida in the Southeastern Conference championship college football game Saturday.

Henry, who is the firm candidate to win the Heisman Trophy carried the ball 44 times on Saturday as he burst through the Gators defense on his way to his MVP performance.

The Crimson Tide (12-1, No. 2 CFP), with the win, locked themselves in as one of the College Football Playoff semi-finalists and will either play in the Cotton Bowl or Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve.

Calvin Ridley finished with eight catches for 102 yards, while ArDarius Stewart and Richard Mullaney each caught a pass for a touchdown.

Adam Griffith made two of three field goal attempts for Alabama.

Treon Harris threw for 165 yards and one touchdown for the Gators (10-3).

NO. 17 HOUSTON 24, NO. 22 TEMPLE

HOUSTON — Greg Ward Jr. ran for 148 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 88 yards on 11-of-21 passes without an interception, and No. 17 Houston defeated No. 20 Temple 24-13 on Saturday to win the American Athletic Conference Championship.

The Cougars (12-1) scored the opening 17 points of the game and led 17-3 at halftime.

Brandon Wilson also ran for 70 yards for Houston, which was completing its second 12-win season after going 13-1 in 2011.

The Cougars, with the win on Saturday, will now enter the Group of Five representative, which mean they will play in the Peach Bowl or Fiesta Bowl.

“Just an overwhelming sense of pride in our guys and our team,” said Tom Herman, who was the offensive coordinator for the Ohio State Buckeyes a year ago.

“None of this would be possible without the leaders in that locker room buying in from Day 1 and dragging the rest of the team with them.”

Meanwhile, P.J. Walker threw for 287 yards with a touchdown for Temple (10-3), while Robby Anderson took 12 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown for the Owls.

TEXAS 23, NO. 12 BAYLOR 17

WACO — Tyrone Swoopes threw for 151 yards and a touchdown and ran for another 52 yards and a score and Texas upset No. 12 Baylor 23-17 in a college football Big 12 regular season game on Saturday.

Swoopes, who was making his first start for the Longhorns (4-7, 4-5 Big 12) since the opener against Notre Dame on Sept. 5, completed 12-of-19 passes and ran with the ball 10 times.

Chris Warren III rushed for 106 yards, while Caleb Bluiett caught a touchdown pass in the win for Texas.

Johnny Jefferson ran for 158 yards and a score for Baylor, and Lynx Hawthorne rushed for 66 yards and a TD in the defeat for the Bears (9-3, 6-3 Big 12) who were suffering their third loss in four games and were eliminated from Sugar Bowl discussions.

“We just have to try to salvage the year by going to a bowl game and winning the bowl game,” Baylor coach Art Briles said after another defeat.
