Auburn, Ala. (Sporting Alert) — A confident No. 5 Auburn football team is ready to face the traveling No. 15 LSU in a huge Southeastern Conference clash at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night.

The Auburn Tigers (4-0) were roughed-up and beaten 35-21 last year in Baton Rouge, but they are ready to return the favors this term.

“They whipped us last year, especially in the first half,” said Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee.

“Our guys should be very motivated to play better in this game.”

LSU (4-1) hasn’t had the most comfortable of starts to the season against top teams, after finding themselves working hard to beat the then-No. 14 Wisconsin in the opening week, before losing 34-29 in their fourth game of the season to a top notched Mississippi State team.

Nevertheless, head coach Les Miles, who is 7-2 against Auburn, and 2-2 in Jordan-Hare, believes his team is ready to deliver a strong outing this weekend.

He thinks, “(our defense has) to play with speed, certainly be assignment conscious and tackle. If we do those things, we’ll be fine.”

LSU has won six of the past seven clashes. The last defeat game in 2010 when Auburn won 24-17 at home.
