MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Cristiano Ronaldo could very well be on his way back to the English Premier League, following reports that the Real Madrid forward is set to meet with Manchester United officials.
Ronaldo has been heavily linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabéu and Manchester United, who sold him to Real Madrid in a world record £80million deal in 2009, are one of the teams looking to seal his signature.
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has recently stated that the Portugal international will not be sold this summer, but a today report in Spanish paper El Pais stated that a meeting between Ronaldo and Manchester United representatives is well set to take place “in the next few days.”
There is nothing concrete on the tables as yet, but both parties would like to see if there is a possibility he could rejoin the EPL champions on a transfer move this summer.
Newly appointed Madrid Real manager Carlo Ancelotti, who recently made the switch from French champions Paris St Germain to take the place of the departing Jose Mourinho, is hoping to hold on to Ronaldo for the coming season, but reports claimed that he would have no say should the attacker decides to leave the club.
At the same time, any possible return by Ronaldo could see striker Wayne Rooney leaving and more than likely going the other way.
