Reports – Edinson Cavani to join EPL side Chelsea

Edinson Cavani

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — If media reports are indeed true, then English Premier League side Chelsea have struck a massive deal in capturing targeted striker Edinson Cavani.

A host of top European clubs have been showing interest in signing the Napoli forward, but according to Radio Marte, Napoli’s official radio station, an agreement worth over €58 million has been made between Chelsea and Italian Serie A side to bring the Uruguay international to the EPL.

“We have received news in the office from a very reliable source that Napoli have sealed a deal with Chelsea for Cavani’s sale,” the Radio Marte report claimed.

“Rafa Benitez also gave the all-clear, but before making the move official Napoli want to secure the striker who will replace Il Matador.

“Aurelio De Laurentiis’ club will pick up around €58m, a slight discount on the buy-out clause, which is the same situation as Ezequiel Lavezzi to PSG last year.

“The player will earn €8.5m per season plus image rights.”

Should this news hold up then Jose Mourinho and Chelsea have beaten out his rivals, including his former club Real Madrid, for the start striker.

It was widely being reported that Spanish side Real Madrid were close to signing Cavani.

Other clubs linked with Cavani are EPL champions Manchester United and city rivals Manchester City.
