EUGENE, Ore. (Sporting Alert) — Day three of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field continues on Friday with several key match-ups.
A tally of 14 finals are set for Friday’s third day, including 10 on the track, where the clash between Shadrack Kipchirchir of Oklahoma State, Kennedy Kithuka of Texas Tech, Lawi Lalang of Arizona and Oregon’s str freshman Edward Cheserek, clash in the men’s 5000m final.
After his dominating performances since surprising his rivals and win the NCAA Cross Country title in November, Cheserek has not looked back and he will be hunting his fifth NCAA title of the season.
The men’s and women’s 100m titles are also up for grabs, with Dentarius Locke of Florida State one of the key personnel to watch in the men’s race and Remona Burchell of Alabama, Jenna Prandini of Oregon and Texas A&M’s Olivia Ekpone the standouts on the women’s side.
Also on the track on Friday is the women’s 3000 Meter Steeplechase final, in addition to the 800m and 400m deciding races.
In the field events, the women Triple Jump and Men High Jump finals are also on the schedule.
