Derricks Rose hits winning jumper, Bulls edged Knicks 82-81

CHICAGO (Sporting Alert) — Derrick Rose hit the winning jumper with 5.7 seconds left in the game and the Chicago Bulls beat the New York Knicks 82-81 at United Center in Chicago Thursday night.

Rose, who struggled from the floor throughout the night finished with 18 points, despite going just 7 for 23. He also had six rebounds and three assists for the Bulls (1-1) who bounced back from the opening night defeat to the Miami Heat.

Rose, who was a game time decision, played with Kinesiology tape to help with his sore neck.

Luol Deng added 17 points and six assists, while Carlos Boozer finished with 14 points and seven boards in the victory.

Jimmy Butler chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Carmelo Anthony paced the Knicks (1-1) with 22 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals. He, however, missed a late three-pointer that would have won the game for New York.

Tyson Chandler, scored just nine points, but pulled down 19 rebounds, and had four blocks in the defeat.
