LONDON, Sporting Alert – Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all in action in the English League Cup (EFL Cup) third round on Tuesday.
Of course, the pick of the fixtures will come from The King Power Stadium where Chelsea take on Leicester City live on Chelsea TV Online, beIN SPORTS CONNECT USA and Sky Sports 1/HD for the viewers wanting to watch in the UK.
The clash will also see the return of midfielder N’Golo Kante, who left the Foxes for the Blues in the summer transfer window.
Kante makes his first return to Leicester since his move, and Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri hopes the Frenchman will get an appreciative welcome.
“I am very happy and I will give to him a very warm welcome back and I am sure also our fans they must appreciate what he did last season and give him a warm welcome,” Ranieri said.
“I will be very happy if our fans clap him at the beginning and afterwards he is an enemy.
“They must understand that when arrives a big team it is difficult to say no.
“For this reason, I say thank you to Jamie Vardy and his family, and to Riyad [Mahrez] when they decided to stay here. For us, it was important to maintain everybody.
“He was very important for us and I think he was even more important for us than at Chelsea because Chelsea have so many big players.”
Both managers are expected to make adjustments to their starting lineups from the last time out, with Blues boss Antonio Conte expected to hand the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Michy Batshuayi some playing time.
Liverpool, meanwhile, will take on Derby County in another 3rd round contest at iPro Stadium.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp stated earlier this season that he will not be using cup games to just give players minutes on the pitch, so he could very well pick a strong side for this EFL Cup third-round tie.
An expected change, though, is to come in goal where Loris Karius looks set to make his competitive Liverpool debut, as regular first choice Simon Mignolet rested.
Striker Roberto Firmino recovered from a slight groin injury and could get a run out, while midfielder Emre Can has recovered from an ankle problem and looks set to feature.
Arsenal will take on Nottingham Forest at The City Ground and the pundits are predicting goals in this EFL Cup battle.
However, Arsene Wenger looks well set to make changes from the last outing with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding, Kieran Gibbs and Lucas Perez expected to be involved.
Also in action in the English League Cup third round on Tuesday are Everton and they will take on Championship side Norwich at Goodison Park, as well as Bournemouth and they will face travellers Preston at Vitality Stadium.
