LONDON, Sporting Alert – Results and standings on Sunday, 1 May in the English Premier League, as Manchester United made leaders Leicester City wait to secure the EPL title.

The Foxes were hoping to pick up three points at Old Trafford, which would have been enough to win them the club’s first ever Premier League crown, but the travelers, who were reduced to 10-man after Danny Drinkwater was sent off late in the game for a second bookable offence, were forced to wait at least one more day, following the 1-1 draw.

This was good news for fellow title chasers Tottenham, which takes on Chelsea in Monday Night Football on 2 May, needing to win.

A victory for Spurs on Monday would keep them in the running, but if Chelsea takes anything from the contest, then Leicester City, which currently leads the EPL standings by eight-points, will celebrate the crown with two games still left to be played.

In other results this weekend, Manchester City fell two goals behind early and then were stunned 4-2 by Southampton, which moved to seventh in the tables with 57 points.

The Citizens remained on 64 points and are in serious danger of missing out on a top four spot, with Manchester United and West Ham United lurking.

In another notable score on Sunday, Swansea City hammered a young Liverpool team 3-1 to move to 13th in the standings.

On Saturday, Newcastle United climbed out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace to go to 33pts.

Everton tagged AFC Bournemouth 2-1, Arsenal edged Norwich City 1-0, while West Bromwich Albion were rout 3-0 at home by West Ham United.
