LIVERPOOL (Sporting Alert) — Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel each scored a brace and Liverpool hammered leaders Arsenal 5-1 in a stunning display at Anfield on Saturday.

Skrtel netted both opening goals for Liverpool in the opening minutes of the contest, while Sterling and Daniel Sturridge scored a goal apiece for the Reds to take a commanding 4-0 half-time lead.
Sterling collected his second of the evening seven minutes into the second as Liverpool cruised to the comfortable victory.
Midfielder Mikel Arteta scored a consolation 69th minute penalty kick, but by then the game was already all over for the Gunners.
Arsenal were hoping to secure a victory to put pressure back on the traveling Manchester City and Chelsea, but defeat here Saturday has surely put a dent in their title hopes and blew the title race even more wide open.
Liverpool striker Sturridge said: “We went out there and did what the manager told us. The first 20 minutes were unbelievable and it’s about the team. We worked as a team and we are getting results.
“It starts form the back and the boys have been excellent. Martin Skrtel got two goals and Raheem Sterling two and got a well-earned man of the match for all the hard work he has put in.”
