ESPN: Spurs Plan To Play Stars v Warriors

OAKLAND, Calif. Sporting Alert — The San Antonio Spurs is planning to play their star players when they battle with the Golden State Warriors here at Oracle Arena on Thursday night.

There had been suggestions that San Antonio coach Greg Popovich would shuffle around his lineup in this, the second game of the three game road trip.

However, ESPN is reporting that the experienced coach plans to play his regular lineup as the Spurs look to put a dent in the defending champions’ quest to break the NBA all-time record for most wins in a regular season.

This means you can expect to see the likes of Tony Parker, LaMarcus Aldridge, Tim Duncan, Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard in the setup.

Golden State is expected to secure the No. 1 overall seed throughout the playoffs, but the Spurs will do their best to make life a little hectic for the defending champions down the stretch.

The Spurs (65-12) and the Warriors (69-9) are the teams with the most wins in the NBA this season.

Golden State is chasing down the 72-10 all-time wins record of the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls, but will need to win the remaining four games of their regular season fixtures to achieve the feat.

Popovich and the Spurs are hoping to end that rush on Thursday as they seek to avenge the 120-90 defeat they suffered when these two teams met last time inside Oracle Arena.

The Warriors, who have dropped two of their last three games, are 37-2 at home this season, while San Antonio are 26-12 away from its Texas-based home turf this season.
