MADISON, Wis., Sporting Alert – No. 11 West Virginia and No. 14 Wisconsin are the two AP Top 25 ranked teams on the schedule for Friday, while there are three games listed on the ESPN3 schedule for the day.
At WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, the 11th ranked Mountaineers will look to stay undefeated at home this season when they host Northern Kentucky in the final non-conference scheduled game before opening Big 12 play.
West Virginia (10-1) is 7-0 at home this term and beat Radford 84-57 on Tuesday night to secure its six straight wins overall.
Team leading scorer Esa Ahmad scored 17 points and led three West Virginia players in double figures in the win over Radford, with Jevon Carter scoring 15 points and Tarik Phillip finishing with 13 for the Mountaineers.
Senior forward Nathan Adrian is averaging 10.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this season for the Big 12 outfit which is ranked in the top for points scored and points allowed as a team this campaign.
West Virginia is scoring 91.8 per contest and allowing 58 points at the other end, which is good for 5th and 6th, respectively this season.
Meanwhile, Northern Kentucky is also in good form recently and will also be wrapping up its non-conference fixtures before starting Horizon League play.
The Norse (9-3) have won six games in a row heading into the road clash at WVU Coliseum.
In its last outing, Drew McDonald scored 22 points and Carson Williams added a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Northern Kentucky eased past NAIA school Brescia 97-73 on Wednesday night.
McDonald leads four Norse players averaging in double-figures in scoring this season with 17.3 points per game to go along with 7.8 rebounds.
Lavone Holland II (15.7), Williams (10.8) and Cole Murray (10.7) are the other players scoring in double figures.
In the night’s other game involving a team ranked in the AP Top 25, 14th ranked Wisconsin will take on Florida A&M at Kohl Center in Madison.
The Badgers are 10-2 overall this season and 7-0 at home while winning six in succession since losing to North Carolina.
Last time out, Nigel Hayes scored 24 points and Zak Showalter added 16 points, six steals and five rebounds in Wisconsin’s 73-59 win over Green Bay on Wednesday night.
Florida A&M (2-10) has yet to win on the road this season and is on a nine-game losing streak.
The Rattlers are coming off an 83-63 win over Samford on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, the ESPN3 schedule for Friday night sees Texas State taking on Tulane, Stephen F. Austin against Southern Miss and Georgia battling with Oakland.
