DOHA, Qatar (November 24, 2022) —— The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 scores on Day 4 as Japan, Spain, and Belgium all secured wins on a day when the upsets at this year’s tournament continued.

Spain were the biggest winners on the day after putting seven goals in the back of the Costa Ricans’ net to race to the top of Group F and announced their World Cup credentials in dominant style. It was also a day in which four-time World Cup champions Germany were stunned by a very spirited Japan team.

A brace from Ferran Torres, and one each from Alvaro Morata, Carlos Soler, Gavi, Marco Asensio and Dani Olso carried Spain to a commanding 7-0 win over Costa Rica who were totally outclassed on the field and at times criticized for being a bit naive.

The shock of the day, though, came at the Khalifa International Stadium where substitutes Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano scored late goals and Japan beat more fancied Germans who had taken the lead in the first half when Ilkay Guendogan scored a 33rd-minute penalty.

In other FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 scores on Day 4, Belgium edged CONCACAF side Canada 1-0 after Michy Batshuayi netted the game’s only goal one minute before the halftime break.

Before his first-half game-winner, though, Canada missed a great opportunity to take the lead when Alphonso Davies had his 11th-minute penalty kick saved by Thibaut Courtois.
