RIO DE JANEIRO (SportingAlert) —Pairings, venues, dates and kick-off times for the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals, which takes place this weekend.
There are two games on the schedule for Friday, with the other two set for Saturday.
In the opening quarter-final in Rio de Janeiro, on Friday, with France taking on fellow European giants Germany at 12:00 PM EDT (13:00 local time).
The second game on Friday will see favourites and tournament hosts Brazil, led by Neymar facing a very exciting Colombia side in Fortaleza – kick-off time will be 4:00 PM EDT (17:00 local time).
There are two games set for Saturday as the World Cup narrows down.
Lionel Messi will lead Argentina against the tournament “dark-horses” Belgium, a game scheduled to be played in Brasilia, at 12:00 PM EDT (13:00 local time).
The final World Cup quarter-finals game, the Netherlands, which needed two late goals to see off Mexico in their last 16 game, tackling this year’s tournament cinderella team in Costa Rica, another CONCACAF side looking to keep the North American flag flying.
This game will be played in Salvador, at 4:00 PM EDT (17:00 local time).
It is the first time in World Cup history that all eight group winners qualified for the quarter-finals.
