NEW YORK (SportingAlert.com) — Wide receiver Greg Salas is set to the New York Jets’ Thursday Night Football NFL game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.
Salas is being bothered by a wrist problem that will force him out of the opening Week 7 fixture on the road.
Joining him as well on the sidelines is linebacker Trevor Reilly (knee), while tight end Jace Amaro was reportedly limited in practice Wednesday also because of a knee injury, so too was linebacker David Harris (shoulder).
The Jets (1-5) are struggling at the moment, winning just one game from six starts this season and are on a disappointing five game losing streak.
The Patriots (4-2), meanwhile, are on a two game winning streak and are coming off a 37-22 victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Star quarterback Tom Brady, was limited in practice, but will play on Thursday against the Jets, despite a nagging sprained ankle, but defensive end Chandler Jones (shoulder) and safety Devin McCourty (rib) are both listed as probable for the game.
Nate Ebner and Cameron Fleming, both with finger problems, are listed as out.
Despite struggling in the league this season Jets players and coaches are confident the team can turn things around and are looking forward to playing their AFC EAST division opener.
“Obviously, our first division game, so it’s a big game for us and we’re preparing ourselves for it,” quarterback Geno Smith said.
“We have a short week, so we’ve got to cram in a bunch of things and today we had a really good walkthrough.”
The game time is 8:25 PM ET and will be broadcast live on CBS/NFL.
