A draw or victory in the final group play will earn a knockout slot for Chile, which is on course to face Mexico in the quarterfinals.

However, star midfielder Arturo Vidal, who netted the winner from the penalty spot in the win over Bolivia in the 2-1 win last time out, wants all three points on Tuesday night, adding that the champs need to start improving if they want to defend the title from 2015.

“Panama are physically very strong. We are going to better prepare for the game and hopefully will be able to show all the quality we have,” Vidal said.

“These matches are very difficult, you have to keep improving – starting now.”

Vidal is among the starters on Tuesday night, with Eduardo Vargas and Marcelo Díaz among the three players returning to the lineup.

Alexis Sanchez, Mauricio Isla, Gary Medel, Jean Beauséjour, Gonzalo Jara and Claudio Bravo are all in the XI as well for the opening 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, Panama’s selection has been hampered by injuries and suspension, with Felipe Baloy, Armando Cooper and Blas Perez all out with second yellow cards at the tournament, while Anibal Godoy was sent off in the 5-0 defeat to Argentina the last time out.

They will look to midfielder Alberto Quintero to carry the team tonight.

The other game on the night will see Argentina and Lionel Messi facing Bolivia at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
