Horford was called for a flagrant 2 foul with 34 seconds left in the second quarter after a coming together with the Cavs’ Matthew Dellavedova.

The players got tangled up during a tussle for a loose ball, and it resulted in Horford being dismissed after the officials deemed he dropped his elbow on Dellavedova while the Cavaliers guard was on the ground.

The Hawks star scored 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting from 19 minutes. He also had four rebounds before his ejection.

Atlanta, who trails 2-0 in the series, is already without Kyle Korver, who has been ruled out for the rest of the postseason with an ankle injury, so losing Horford in Game 3 will be a massive blow to their chances of pulling off a win on the road.

ESPN’s Stephen A Smith believes it was the wrong call.

“This is totally wrong,” Smith tweeted. “Al Horford did not deserve to be EJECTED via a flagrant 2 on that play.

“That’s just flat-out wrong. Totally unfair.”

He added: “And BTW…..Dellavadova looked intentional on that play. He’s lucky Horford didn’t decide to knock him upside his head with that elbow.”

Dellavadova was called for a technical four.
