No. 9 Duke Blue Devils will open their college basketball season at home against Coppin State on Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium at 2:00 p.m. ET.
Saturday’s game will officially be the season opener for Duke after the start to its 116th campaign was canceled. The Blue Devils were slated to open Wednesday night against Gardner-Webb but that game was called off, following a positive COVID-19 test within the Gardner-Webb program.
How to Watch and Listen Live
The game against Coppin State will be live on ACC Network Extra, and can be heard across the Blue Devil Sports Network from IMG Learfield College, the school announced. Fans can also watch live streaming free via WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app – as long as their cable or streaming service provider includes ACC Network.
This will be the first meeting between Duke and Coppin State, while the Blue Devils are 18-0 all-time against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
After the long layoff, which dated back to the end of the regular in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic, sophomore Matthew Hurt is looking forward to returning to court to continue where he left off last season.
Hurt, who is Duke’s leading returning scorer, is expected to team up with freshman Jalen Johnson and sophomore Wendell Moore Jr., in leading roles.
Johnson was named in the Preseason All-ACC first team, finishing second in Preseason ACC Freshman of the Year voting to Florida State’s Scottie Barnes.
Moore Jr. was named in the Preseason All-ACC second team. He, along with Hurt, were also voted among the Preseason Player of the Year candidates.
