OMAHA, Neb. — In a highly anticipated matchup, the No. 16 Creighton Bluejays will travel to Lincoln to face the No. 4 Nebraska Cornhuskers in women’s volleyball on Wednesday. The contest is set to be a crucial test for both teams as they look to solidify their rankings early in the season.

Nebraska comes into this clash in great form, having dominated its rivals in the last fixtures. The Cornhuskers are 5-0 on the season, sweeping Utah State, Lipscomb, SMU, Omaha and Kansas State. Nebraska, along with 2-0 Princeton (prior to Tuesday’s match vs. Santa Clara) is one of two teams nationally that have not yet lost a set.

Meanwhile, Creighton enters this season with a good mixture of new and seasoned talents, having returned five starters from last season’s 27-5 squad that reached an 11th straight NCAA Tournament. The Bluejays won a ninth straight BIG EAST regular-season title last season and their eighth BIG EAST Tournament crown in the past nine years.
Despite all that success, Creighton is picked to finish second by league coaches in 2023.

Since restarting its volleyball program in 1994, Creighton is 0-19 all-time against Nebraska in the fall. Eleven of those 19 meetings have come in Lincoln.
