Hyland Helps VCU Beat George Washington 84-77

WASHINGTON — Nah’Shon Hyland registered 17 points to lead VCU to an 84-77 victory over George Washington on Wednesday in an Atlantic 10 Conference fixture.

Hyland also collected six steals and four rebounds in the win as VCU improved to 16-3 all-time against George Washington, including four straight wins in the head-to-head series

Vince Williams Jr. added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists and Hason Ward ended 11 points, five rebounds, and four blocks off the bench for the Rams (10-3, 3-1 Atlantic 10 Conference), who led for all but 2:06 in the game.

Jamir Watkins finished with 10 points and Adrian Baldwin Jr. chipped in with six points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals for VCU, which shot 53.4% from the field.

James Bishop tallied a career-high 24 points to go with four rebounds and three assists to lead the way for George Washington in the defeat.

Ricky Lindo Jr shot 6 of 8 from the field to finish with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and five steals and Matt Moyer had 12 points, nine rebounds, and three steals for the Colonials (3-8, 2-2), who shot 42.4% from the field and 40.0% from 3-point range.

George Washington outrebounded VCU 38-30, but trailed 41-35 at halftime.

VCU forced 23 turnovers on the way to its 10th win of the season.
