Kansas City RB Jamaal Charles will not return after concussion

INDIANAPOLIS (Sporting Alert) — Kansas City Chief’s running back Jamaal Charles was forced to leave the AFC Wild-Card clash against the Indianapolis Colts and has been ruled out for the rest of the contest with a concussion.

Charles left Saturday’s clash on Kansas City’s first possession when he had to be helped to the sideline and assessed by the team’s medical staff.

He was then helped to the locker room where he was examined once again by team doctors, who made the decision that he will not return.

The star running back, who topped the AFC in rushing with 1,287 yards and 19 total touchdowns, sustained the injury after he was tackled by Indianapolis’ Greg Toler on an early 7-yard run.

Kansas City, searching for its first playoffs win in 20-years, led the Wild-Card battle, 31-10 at half-time.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Donnie Avery is also questionable to return as he’s being evaluated for a concussion as well.
