LAHAINA, Hawaii — Kevin Obanor scored 15 points and Texas Tech dominated the boards as the No. 21 ranked Red Raiders handed Louisville a fifth straight defeat to start the season with a 70-38 victory at the 2022 Maui Jim Maui Invitational. AP Top 25 scores in college basketball action on Tuesday.
Obanor who scored 10 points in the 76-65 defeat to Creighton in the opener on Monday, also added five rebounds in 21 minutes, while D’Maurian Williams added a season-high 10 points off the bench and Daniel Batcho finished with a season-best 12 rebounds to go with nine points, three blickd and three steals for Texas Tech (4-1).
“I’m just pleased that we were able to come back after that tough and disappointing, frustrating, loss against Creighton,” said Texas Tech coach Mark Adams. “Exposed a lot of our weaknesses.
“I thought we came back today strong and focused on defense, things that we believe in in our identity. So, I was really proud of our guys.”
Jae’Lyn Withers and El Ellis each had seven points for Louisville as no player scored in double figures in the game. The defeat today in the consolation bracket of the 2022 Maui Jim Maui Invitational saw the Cardinals falling to 0-5 on the season.

“The lesson in it, you know, us coming to Maui was to walk away and learn about ourselves,” Louisville head coach Kenny Payne said on the school official website. “And the two things I take away from Arkansas and Texas Tech so far, their defense, their ability to create turnovers. It’s not about how skilled they are.
“It’s about their will. They imposed their will on us consistently throughout the whole game and we turned the ball over and we shot a bad percentage because of them. We have to learn from that and we have to play the similar way as they played.
“I thought when we pressed and got after them in the second half a little bit we created some of that same type of energy that they have defensively toward us.”
Texas Tech led 32-12 at halftime scoring the final 12 points of that frame, then scored 13 straight to open the second half to take a 45-13 advantage.
