Manchester City Beat Arsenal 3-1 To Extend Club Record

Manchester City Premier League

MANCHESTER, Sporting Alert — Manchester City continued their outstanding form in the English Premier League this season with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The latest win sees Pep Guardiola’s side moving to 31 points, eight points clear of Manchester United and Tottenham in the English Premier League standings.

The positive result also sees the side extending its club record to 15 straight win in all competitions, as well as set a new personal record for Guardiola, who has never tallied so many points from his first 11 league games in his career.

Kevin De Bruyne, arguably the best player in the Premier League at the moment this season, netted the opener in the 19th minute with a low left-footed shot that went into the bottom right corner from 16 yards out.

Sergio Aguero fired home from the penalty spot after 50 minutes to make it 2-0 for Manchester City after Raheem Sterling was fouled inside the box by Nacho Monreal.

Arsenal pulled a goal back in the 65th minute when the Frenchman blasted home from a low-drive effort through the legs of Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.

The Gunners poked for an equaliser, which put Manchester City on the back foot, but the visitors weren’t able to tie things up.

Manchester City regained their two-goal lead after substitute Gabriel Jesus netted from close range 16 minutes from time, despite David Silva being in an offside position before crossing.

The Citizens are now unbeaten in 23 games in all competitions and definitely look like a team that will take something special to beat this season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal dropped down to sixth place, following the defeat and are 12 points off the leaders.
