MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign targeted midfielder Koke from Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid, according to a report by.
Koke has been on the Man United radar for quite sometime and it is understood that manager David Moyes has successfully reached an agreement in deal worth €36m to land the highly-rated Spanish playmaker.
Inside Spanish Football reveals that sources close to Atletico Madrid have confirmed that a deal to bring Koke to Old Trafford has been struck, despite Diego Simeone’s quest to keep one of the club’s star player.
Manchester United have been working on ways to improve its midfield all summer, with the likes of Anderson and Tom Cleverley failing to impress Moyes when given the opportunity.
Marouane Fellaini was brought in from Everton by Moyes to assist in the middle of the pitch, but the Belgian has been struggling to settle into the United style of play, forcing the manager to constantly using the likes of Ryan Giggs and Phil Jones as central midfielders.
Meanwhile, even though the reports have been dismissed as a prank after the news broke on the Dia de los Santos Inocentes, Spain’s version of April Fool’s Day, it is understood that a deal between the clubs is not as foolish as some are feeling.
