Manchester United squad for summer tour of USA
MANCHESTER (SportingAlert) -- Manchester United have named its 25-man squad for the summer tour of the United States, which is being presented by Aon.
The English Premier League club will fly to the States on Friday.
New manager Louis van Gaal, who revealed during his press conference at Old Trafford on Thursday that
all the players would be assessed during the trip, named a mixture of seniors and youngsters for the tour.
Amongst those in the squad are new summer signings Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera, with the likes of Wayne Rooney, David De Gea, Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa, Rafael, Michael Keane and Nani, also traveling.
Michael Carrick, who is out because of an ankle injury and Robin van Persie, who has been given time off after the World Cup with the Netherlands isn't with the squad. There is also no place for Brazil midfielder Anderson.
Manchester United will play four matches during their tour.
Van Gaal side opens against MLS team Los Angeles Galaxy in the Chevrolet Cup on 23 July before taking on AS Roma in Denver (26 July), Inter Milan in Washington DC (29 July) and Real Madrid in Ann Arbor (2 August) in Group A of the International Champions Cup.
The EPL giants could play a fifth game if they manage to reach the final of the International Champions Cup at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, FL, against the winner of the Group B, which involves Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Olympiacos and AC Milan.
