LONDON (SportingAlert) — Marcos Rojo is joining Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon, with winger Nani heading the other way as manager Louis van Gaal look to bolster his squad for this season.
Manchester United were hoping to seal a move for the Argentine before the start of the season, but the deal was held up by a third party.
On Tuesday though, Sporting Lisbon confirmed that the English Premier League side will get their man for a fee in the region of £16 million.
United will be looking to complete the deal in the coming days.
At the same time, Portugal winger Nani will be making a return to his former club as part of the deal on a season-long loan – seven years after the midfielder joined the Red Devils.
Rojo played as a left-back for Argentina at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil earlier this summer, but is a natural center-back and will be part of Van Gaal’s three-man center-back formation.
