DURHAM, N.C. — Marvin Bagley III recorded a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds and No. 7 Duke cruised to an 89-71 victory over Wake Forest at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
The Blue Devils was without head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who missed Saturday’s home victory because of a virus.
The Hall of Fame coach Krzyzewski was replaced for the game by long-time associate head coach Jeff Capel.
Bagley III, who leads the ACC in scoring and rebounding, grabbed a career-best 14 double-double, which equals the most by a Duke freshman.
The college rookie joins Jabari Parker and Gene Banks as the only other freshmen with 14 double-doubles in Duke history.
It was also the 5th time Bagley, who had six dunks on the day, was scoring at least 30 points in a game this season.
He completed his stats with four steals, three blocks and three assists in the win.
Freshman Gary Trent Jr. scored 19 points and made six 3-pointers for the Blue Devils (15-2, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), while classmate Wendell Carter Jr. added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Alex O’Connell scored 13 points off the bench.
Bryant Crawford scored 21 points with six assists to lead Wake Forest (8-9, 1-4) and Keyshawn Woods ended with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists in the defeat.
Brandon Childress finished with 11 points off the bench for the Demon Deacons, who remained winless at Cameron Indoor Stadium for 21 years.
Grayson Allen, who averaging 16.4 points per game this season, was held to just two on Saturday, but the senior had a career-best 12 rebounds for Duke, which won two in a row.
Allen also had eight assists and freshman Trevon Duval, who leads the ACC in assists, had with six today.
Bagley III and Duke travels to No. 18 Miami on Monday night.
Wake Forest is up against face North Carolina State on the road on Thursday night.
