Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has been sent off for Argentina, while defender Cristian Valencia Zapata gets the matching orders for Colombia.
Higuain had started up top with Sergio Agüero, with Messi, who had been bothered by an injury starting as a substitute.
