Specific attention will be in the men’s and women’s sprint events, while the 3000M Steeplechase final is also down for today.

The women’s 100m finals will see the battle between home favourite English Gardner of Oregon, who ran a wind-aided 11.00 in her semi-finals, LSU’s Kimberlyn Duncan (11.02) and Octavious Freeman (UCF), who clocked 10.99 to win her semis. Freeman’s teammate Aurieyall Scott also ran.

All the above time were assisted by the wind.

On the men’s side, Florida State’s Dentarius Locke improved his life-time best to 9.97secs and will start as perhaps the man to beat in tonight’s final.

TCU senior Charles Silmon produced 9.92secs to win his semi-finals, but his time was heavily assisted by a tailwind.

Lots of focus will also be in the women’s 400m hurdles, where Kori Carter of Stanford who topped all the qualifiers with 54.67 and Georganne Moline of Arizona, who ran 54.89 to win her heat meet in an interesting final.

A red hot women’s 800m field includes LSU’s favourite Natoya Goule, her teammate Charlene Lipsey, Cydney Ross of Duke and Oregon’s Laura Roesler.
