SportingAlert.com — Argentina named a very strong team to take on Haiti in an international football friendly – pre-World Cup preparation game – at Estadio Alberto José Armando stadium in Buenos Aires on Tuesday night.
Lionel Messi leads the quality starting lineup for Argentina, with the likes of Gonzalo Higuaín and Angel Di María also in the starting XI.
Messi isn’t expected to play the entire 90 minutes, but with the World Cup set to kick-off in a little over two weeks, manager Jorge Sampaoli will want to keep his star forward sharp for the tournament.
Meanwhile, veteran Javier Mascherano also makes the first XI, with Manuel Lanzini and Manchester City English Premier League title-winning defending Nicolás Otamendi leading the backline.
Completing the starting lineup are Willy Caballero, Giovani Lo Celso, Federico Fazio, Nicolás Tagliafico and Cristian Ansaldi.
Among the highlighted players on the bench for Argentina tonight are, Sergio Agüero, Lucas Biglia, Éver Banega, Marcos Rojo, Marcos Acuña and Paulo Dybala.
Argentina and Haiti previously met in a friendly international on May 5, 2010 with the South American powerhouses running away 4-0 winners.
