ARLINGTON, Texas (Sporting Alert) – Defending champion Mexico takes on Panama with hopes of progressing to another final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup with victory in tonight’s semi-finals at the Cowboys Stadium.
The two sides will be meeting for the second time in these CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament, following their Group A encounter which saw Panama recording a shocking 2-1 win on 7 July.
Since then the two-time defending champions have picked up victories on their way to the semis and head coach Jose Manuel de la Torre believes his team is now well placed to turn the tables.
“I have seen the team little by little. I’ve seen it improve, saw it get better,” de la Torre said. “We are trying to correct certain mistakes, trying to see that are better at the individual.
“That gives the players confidence that there is improvement and that’s accompanied by better results.”
Both teams are full of confidence heading into the contest with Mexico keeping close eyes on Gabriel Torres from Panama.
