Mississippi State New No. 1 In NCAAF AP Poll - Week 8 1
NEW YORK (SportingAlert.com) — Mississippi State has taken over as the nation’s No. 1 NCAA College Football in the Associated Press poll on Sunday’s Week 8 release.
The Bulldogs, who were tied with Ole Miss at No. 3 in last week’s poll, moved ahead of Seminoles and achieved the program’s first-ever No. 1 ranking, following their 38-23 crushing victory over the then-No. 2 Auburn Tigers.
The win saw Mississippi State, which improved to 6-0 on the season, receiving 45 of the 60 first-place votes and a total of 1,480 points.
Defending national champions Florida State (6-0), who is also undefeated on the season after beating Syracuse 38-20, earned 12 first place votes and received 1,415 points.
Ole Miss (6-0) stayed No. 3 with 1,413 points and took the other three first-place votes.
Baylor climbed one place from fifth to fourth, while Notre Dame, who also moved up one place to fifth, completed the top five
Last week’s No. 2 Auburn slipped four places to sixth.
