KANSAS, Sporting Alert – NCAA College Basketball tips-off on Friday night with a packed schedule and you can watch top teams in action live on ESPN3 and other ESPN partnered networks.
Of course it would be difficult to follow all the games, but you will at least be able to follow the top 25 ranked teams that will be in action.
Among the AP top 25 ranked teams in action on opening night is No. 1 North Carolina which takes on Temple in the Veterans Classic at Alumni Hall at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
The top-ranked Tar Heels will be looking to win its 11th successful season opener and they come into the season full of confidence, after returning four starters from the 2014-15 team that made it to the March Madness Sweet 16 before losing to Wisconsin.
When this game gets going on Friday night, North Carolina and Temple will be facing-off for the seventh time overall, and the first time since the 1991 NCAA Tournament.
This game will be televised live on the CBS Sports Network and tip-off time is set for 7:00 PM ET.
No. 2 Kentucky, another team which is loaded with talents and could have also picked as the No. 1 side in the preseason poll, will also be hoping to start its season on a winning note against Albany at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
The Wildcats are 93-19 in regular-season openers, including 6-0 under coach John Calipari and they will certainly be hoping to extend that streak on Friday.
Lots of eyes will also be on No. 3 Maryland when they get their season underway at the XFINITY Center in College Park against Mount St Mary’s.
The Terrapins are coming off a successful season last term, after winning a school-record 26 games during the regular season and many believe they have a team that can go deep into this year’s NCAA Tournament.
Defending champion Duke, the No. 5 ranked side in the AP top 25 rankings, gets its season going on Friday with its first-ever meeting with Siena as the two sides face-off in the 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project.
Elsewhere on Friday, No. 4 Kansas meet Northern Colorado inside the Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, No. 6 Virginia tackle Morgan State, Colorado face No. 7 Iowa State, No. 9 Gonzaga and Pittsburgh travel to Okinawa, Japan to get their season started at Camp Foster, while No. 17 Wisconsin meet Western Illinois.
