MIAMI, FL, Sporting Alert – The 2016 NFL preseason fixtures will continue this week with action from Week 3, as coaches continue to search for the right combinations ahead of the start of the new season next month.
Week 3 schedule sees six games being nationally televised, including the clash between the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Falcons at the Florida Citrus Bowl on Thursday.
The game will broadcast live on NBC and streamed live online.
Miami, which is 1-1 in this preseason, will look to make adjustments and bounce back from a 41-14 loss to the Cowboys in their second preseason game, while head coach Adam Gase revealed that Pro Bowl centre Mike Pouncey is likely to be out for the remainder of the preseason with a hip injury.
One of Gase’s problems last week was his defense, which struggled to get off sufficient blocks and tackles, and was also unable to stop the Cowboys’ quarterbacks Tony Romo and Dak Prescott from doing what they want, almost everytime.
At the same time, though, Gase was happy with the outing of his Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill, who looked trustworthy when passing for 162 yards and two touchdowns, with wide receiver Kenny Stills, taking two catches for 71 yards.
The Falcons, in the meantime, head into Thursday night’s game searching for their third successive win on the 2016 preseason schedule.
Falcons’ Aldrick Robinson is one of the top receivers in this preseason and he will be hoping to extend his good friendly form into another game.
So far, Atlanta has picked up wins over the Washington Redskins (23-17) and the Cleveland Browns (24-13).
A total of eight teams have started the 2016 NFL preseason with 2-0 records.
Besides the Falcons, the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams are all seeking their third consecutive warm-up success.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints are all still searching for their first win in this preseason.
