PATRIOTS 20, BILLS 13
FOXBOROUGH — Tom Brady went 20-of-39 on passes for 277 yards and a touchdown and the New England Patriots stayed undefeated with a 20-13 win over the Buffalo Bills.
Danny Amendola caught nine of his 12 targets for 117 yards and Brandon LaFell caught four passes for 66 yards for the Patriots (10-0), who joined the Carolina Panthers as the teams with perfect records this season.
James White caught a touchdown pass and ran for another score to help New England to secure the victory as the Buffalo Bills wasted plenty of chances to end the home side’s streak.
LeSean McCoy threw for 82 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for another 41 for the Bills, who failed to score in the first and fourth quarters.
Chris Hogan had six catches for 95 yards in the defeat for Buffalo (5-5).
PANTHERS 44, REDSKINS 16
Cam Newton threw a career-high five touchdown passes, and the Carolina Panthers improved to 10-0 for the first time in franchise history with a dominating 44-16 victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
Newton, who went 21-for-34 on passes for 246 yards, was again outstanding for the Panthers, who broke away from the Redskins in the second quarter after the teams finished the opening quarter tied at 14-14.
The star quarterback threw TD passes to Devin Funchess, Greg Olsen, Ted Ginn Jr., Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert.
Stewart also ran for 102 yards on 21 carries for Carolina, which became the 16th team in the Super Bowl era to start 10-0.
According to ESPN Stats and Info, nine of the previous 15 went on to make the Super Bowl and six of those teams won it.
Kirk Cousins was 22-for-30 for 207 yards and a touchdown for Washington (4-6).
DeSean Jackson took five catches for 87 yards and a touchdown for the Redskins, who were held to a mere 186 total yards, which included just 14 on the ground.
BUCCANEERS 45, EAGLES 17
PHILADELPHIA — Jameis Winston threw for a career-best five touchdowns and tied a rookie record for scoring passes in a single game, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rolled over the Philadelphia Eagles 45-17 in the NFL on Sunday.
Winston, who went 19-for-29 on completed passes for 246 yards, connected with five different receivers – Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, Cameron Brate, Charles Sims and Russell Shepard – for touchdowns, as the Buccaneers (5-5) won two in a row and three of the last four games to improve to .500 on the season.
Doug Martin ran for 235 yards on 27 carries in the win for Tampa Bay.
Mark Sanchez was 26-for-41 on passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns, with three interceptions for the Eagles (4-6).
Philadelphia dropped its second successive game and three in the past four overall, as Eagles head coach Chip Kelly suffered his worst loss.
