SYRACUSE, NY — No. 2 Virginia will seek to co its impressive form this season when it travels to the Carrier Dome to take on Syracuse on Saturday.
The Cavaliers (21-1, 10-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) enter the weekend clash with a healthy three-game cushion on the rest of the ACC team and will move closer to winning the regular season title with another victory.
Virginia, which is undefeated from 10 conference games so far, is currently on a 13-game winning streak.
The Cavaliers also boast the nation’s best scoring defense, holding opponents to an impressive 52.7 points per game, while three of their last five foes have failed to reach 50 points.
Syracuse, meanwhile, had its three-game winning streak snapped by Georgia Tech in the last outing and the home side, which starts the weekend 5.5 games back in conference play, will be hoping to get back to winning ways.
The Orange (15-7, 4-5) lost 65-61 to Virginia in their previous meeting on Jan. 9.
In that meeting, Kyle Guy led with 22 points and played a game-high 40 minutes in the win.
For Syracuse, Frank Howard led three Orange players scoring in double figures in the previous clash and he, along with fellow guard Tyus Battle, who ranks second in the ACC in scoring at 19.7 points per game, are expected to be among the leading contributors for the hosts on Saturday.
Live coverage of this game will be at 4:00 PM ET and is on the ACC Network Extra and WatchESPN.
