Duke (19-5, 7-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) comes into this fixture on the back of back-to-back defeats to St. John’s and No. 21 North Carolina and the AP pre-season No. 1 club will be hoping to avoid losing three straight (Clemson, Notre Dame and Syracuse) during the 2015-16 campaign.
The Blue Devils will be without freshman super talent Marvin Bagley III, who picked up an injury in midweek and will not be available.
According Duke, Bagley III suffered a mild right knee sprain Thursday and will be held out against Georgia Tech on Sunday as a precaution.
Bagley III, with his 21.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, leads the ACC this season in both categories, but Duke should have enough firepower to replace the talented forward, with the club featuring five averaging in doubles figures this season.
Meanwhile, Georgia Tech (11-13, 4-7 ACC) has lost two straight and six of the last seven games entering Sunday’s game.
The Yellow Jackets were routed 77-54 on Thursday night by Louisville and sit third-from-bottom in the ACC standings.
In the meantime, Sunday’s match-up will be the 95th meeting between Duke and Georgia Tech.
The Blue Devils lead the series 71-23 and have a 10-game winning streak in this head-to-head battle – the longest active streak against ACC opponents.
