The striker who made a summer from Celtic in the transfer window was set to start after recovering from injury, but instead opens the game on the bench, with Johan Elmander and Ricky van Wolfswinkel leading the attack.
Nathan Redmond, Leroy Fer, Javier Garrido, Robert Snodgrass and Jonny Howson all start the game as well, as Norwich look to bounce back from the 2-0 defeat suffered against Tottenham in their EPL outing.
Russell Martin and Jonny Howson are starters and they come in for Steven Whittaker and Bradley Johnson, as Norwich make two changes from the side that played last.
For Aston Villa, they make three changes from the side that was beaten 2-1 against Newcastle United last time out, with Ciaran Clark coming in for the injured Jores Okore, and Leandro Bacuna and Aleksandar Tonev replacing Matt Lowton and Ashley Westwood.
Leading scorer Christian Benteke looks to add to his goal tally this season, while Gabriel Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann also start alongside the Belgian in advanced positions.
