One two points separate the two sides in the early standings, with Monaco currently sitting at the top on 13pts.

Victory for either side on Sunday would see them taking some advantage in the race for the title and PSG midfielder Marco Verratti says they are ready.

“We didn’t begin the season well. In part, that’s due to the late arrival of certain international players to preseason,” Verratti said.

“But now I think we are ready. We have reached our proper level. Our aim now is to win all our matches.”

Verratti also believes that the promotion of Monaco makes the title a bit more exciting.

The visitors, coached by Claudio Ranieri, will include in their lineup the likes of Radamel Falcao, Eric Abidal and Ricardo Carvalho, all recruited this summer.

“Yes, I think Monaco’s promotion will help balance the championship. They have made a great start to the season,” he said. “This will be a big challenge for both teams and we will do everything we can to win.

“I have seen a few of their matches. They are a very good team with very good attacking players. We need to stay focused on play our best football to get the three points.”

Paris St Germain coach Laurent Blanc also believes the leaders are dangerous challengers for the crown this season and revealed that their early start has shown that.

Monaco are one of the best teams, they will have a very good season,” the Frenchman reporters.

“The speed with which they have found that cohesion is impressive.

“They recruited great players with Falcao, [Eric] Abidal and [Ricardo] Carvalho and they have all gelled quickly.

“I saw them win against Marseille and they had good match. When there are good players, you do not necessarily have to wait several years to get results.”
