Pogba Could Miss Manchester United Friendly In Oslo With Back Problem
OSLO, Norway, Sporting Alert — Paul Pogba is set to miss Manchester United’s friendly game with Kristiansund in Oslo after complaining about a back problem this week.
Despite being massively linked with a move away from Old Trafford all summer, the Frenchman has so far played in all four preseason games for the English Premier League outfit.
However, the World Cup winner missed a team workout at the Ullevaal Stadium on Tuesday morning and is scheduled to have treatment ahead of the game later in the evening.
Reports are claiming that the midfielder would be cleared to play, but the Manchester United coaching staff may not risk playing the midfielder.
It is no secret that Pogba is looking to move before the transfer window closes, but the world-class midfielder has been a professional thus far — featuring in all four of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side pre-season games.
Manchester United are undefeated in friendlies so far after picking up wins against Perth Glory, Leeds, Inter Milan and Tottenham.
Pogba has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, Barcelona and to his former club Juventus.
However, despite the speculations, United boss Solskjaer continues to reveal that he wants to build his team around the 26-year-old.
Meanwhile, striker Romelu Lukaku will once again miss out as he continues to finalize his future.
Lukaku has missed every pre-season fixture so far this summer and has been linked with a move to Italian sides Inter Milan and Juventus.
He did not make the trip for the game in Oslo and is not expected to play in Manchester United’s final preseason game against AC Milan in Cardiff on Saturday.
The Red Devils open their English Premier League campaign when they welcome Chelsea to at Old Trafford on August 11.
The game will also see newly installed Chelsea boss Frank Lampard making his debut as a manager in the Premier League.
