MANCHESTER, Sporting Alert – Marcus Rashford has been rewarded for his heroic performance in midweek after he was named in the starting lineup again for Manchester United against Arsenal on Sunday.
Rashford, who was called on and scored twice against Midtjylland on Thursday after Anthony Martial picked up an injury before the game, will make his English Premier League debut and leads the attacking line for Manchester United.
Martial continues to recover from a hamstring problem.
There is also good news for the Red Devils, as first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea has passed a fitness test and returns to the starting lineup.
The Spanish international missed the last two games with a knee injury he picked up while warming up for the first leg clash with Midtjylland in the Europa League.
With Wayne Rooney still out injured, Michael Carrick will captain Manchester United and will be the partner for Daley Blind at centre-back.
Marcos Rojo, who came on as a substitute against Midtjylland, starts today. The Argentine international comes in for Joe Riley at left-back
Young Timothy Fosu-Mensah has been named on the bench, alongside Adnan Januzaj, Andreas Pereira, James Weir and Joe Riley.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have made three changes to the side that lost to Barcelona for today’s clash at Old Trafford.
Former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck comes in for Olivier Giroud, who is currently going through a mini goal-drought — having gone eight games without scoring while Gabriel Paulista and Theo Walcott come in for defender Per Mertesacker and winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Gunners, who are hoping to keep tabs on leaders Leicester City, are still without the injured Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky.
