MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Manager Carlo Ancelotti has named his 22-man squad for Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg clash against Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday.
Heading the list of players included in the squad are the fit-again Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ancelotti named Ronaldo in the squad and said both he and Bale would likely start, despite Madrid currently waiting on Spain’s Competition Committee to learn the faith of the Portugal forward, after he was shown a straight red card during Sunday’s 1-1 league draw at Athletic Bilbao.
“Cristiano Ronaldo, Arbeloa and Coentrão will start,” Ancelotti said on RealMadrid.com.
“I don’t think we’ll have to wait for the Committee. His sanction won’t be serious and he’ll be on tomorrow’s line-up. He’ll start.
Ancelotti added about Bale: “Bale is available. He’s recovered well and has done well every day that he’s trained with the team.
“He did a good job for part of the season, when he was fit. He’s also had some problems, but he’ll be much better next year since he’ll have a full preseason and will have adapted to Spanish football.”
Meanwhile, La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid will be without striker David Villa, who will miss the game because of an injury be picked up over the weekend.
