Results: English League Cup 3rd Round games on Tuesday, Sept. 24

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — The following are the results from the Capital One vs English League Cup vs games that took place on Tuesday (Sept. 24).

Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham were all amongst the winners in the third round clashes of the cup.

The biggest winners on the night were Manchester City, as striker Stevan Jovetic opened his account for his new club with two goals, as the EPL side defeated Wigan 5-0, with Jesus Navas, who also opened his account, Edin Dzeko and Yaya Toure all scoring in the victory as well.

Tottenham runaway 4-0 winners over fellow English Premier League outfits, Aston Villa, as striker Jermain Defoe netted twice and Paulinho and Nacer Chadli added goals in the comfortable road win.

First half goals from Fernando Torres and Ramires guided Chelsea to a 2-0 win over Swindon Town, a game Juan Mata started.

Fulham came from a goal down to beat Everton 2-1, with Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Bent scoring second half goals to cancel out Steven Naismith’s first half opener, managerless Sunderland eased past Peterborough 2-0, Gary Hooper scored twice, including the winner in extra-time for Norwich City to beat Watford 3-2 after falling 2-0 behind, while West Ham edged Cardiff City 3-2 in a five goal thriller.
