ROME, Italy (Sporting Alert) — Manchester City are again without captain Vincent Kompany, but midfielder David Silva is named among the substitutes for tonight’s vital Champions League clash in Group E at Roma.
Kompany has not recovered from the hamstring injury that forced him to miss the last two games and was not even fit enough to be on the bench.
Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala will start as the center-backs for the English Premier League champions, who are without star forward and leading goal scorer Sergio Aguero, who has been ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury.
However, Spanish midfield playmaker David Silva, who has been out for six weeks with a knee problem, is on the bench for Manchester City tonight.
The Argentina international joins Frank Lampard, Bacary Sagna, Aleksandar Kolarov and Stevan Jovetic, who are all also on the substitutes bench.
James Milner and Samir Nasri both start in advanced positions and will be the main supports for Edin Dzeko, who leads the frontline.
Roma, in the meantime, named experienced midfielder Daniel De Rossi on the bench to start the game with Seydou Keita starting in his place.
Maicon, Adem Ljajic, Gervinho, Miralem Pjanic and Francesco Totti start for the home side at Stadio Olimpico.
