San Francisco announced that cornerback Carlos Rogers has not recovered from a hamstring and is inactive for the game. Rogers went through early morning warm-ups throws, but was not ready to feature.
For the Panthers, running back Jonathan Stewart (knee) will not play today.
However, wide receiver Steve Smith, as expected is listed as active and will play against the 49ers.
When these two teams last met, Carolina beat San Francisco 10-9.
