BLACKSBURG, Va. -— Keve Aluma scored a career-high 26 points and led four Virginia Tech players in double-digit scoring as the No. 24 Hokies held on for an 80-78 victory over Miami on Tuesday night.

Aluma, who made 9 of 16 shots from the field, added six rebounds, four assists and three blocks for Virginia Tech (8-1, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), which won their fourth straight game. Aluma also made 7 of 10 attempts from the free-throw line in the win.

Justyn Mutts finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals, Tyrece Radford ended with 13 points on 6 of 9 shooting with nine rebounds, and Jalen Cone had 12 point off the bench for the Hokies, who made three free throws in the final 37 seconds to hold off Miami.

Isaiah Wong and Matt Cross led the way for Miami with 16 points apiece. Wong added five rebounds and three assists.

Harlond Beverly supported with 14 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals, Elijah Olaniyi scored 11 points and Nysier Brooks scored 10 for the Hurricanes (4-3, 0-2), who were losing three of the last four games.

Virginia Tech went into the halftime break with a 42-33 advantage and led by as many as 17 points in the second half.

Miami rallied in the closing seconds, but the Hokies made key free throws down the stretch to close out the game.

As a team the Hurricanes shot 53.6% on 30 of 56 shooting and made 10 of its 25 attempts from 3-pointers.

Virginia Tech was 46.8% from the field on 29 of 62 shooting.
