EUGENE, Ore. (Sporting Alert) — The opening day of the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship gets underway on Wednesday with a host of events, starting with the men’s Decathlon event in Eugene, Ore. at Hayward Field.

ESPN3/ESPNU will broadcast the majority of the meet as well.

The championship begins at 12:00 PM with the men’s combine event, with field events opening with the Women Hammer Throw at 1:30.

Action on the track starts with the exciting Semi-final rounds of the men’s and women’s 4×100 relays, while LSU and Jamaica’s star half-miler Natoya Goule go in the women’s 800m semis.

There will be six finals on day 1, five of which come from the field events, including the Women Long Jump and Men Shot Put, while the one final on the track will be the Women 10000 metres run.

Kansas, Texas A&M, Florida, LSU and Oregon are all amongst the top team looking to land the women’s overall title, while Texas A&M, Arkansas, Oregon, Florida and Florida State are the main teams at the moment favored to win the men’s team title.
